There is a side of God the modern believer rarely contemplates.
We have known Him as Jehovah Jireh, the Provider.
As Jehovah Rapha, the Healer.
As Jehovah Nissi, the Banner of Victory.
But there is a Name that demands instead of gives.
A Name that claims rather than comforts.
That Name is Jehovah Qanna, the Jealous God.
This Name does not extend a blessing first. It issues a claim.
It says, “You are Mine.”
It is the nature that guards covenant and refuses divided attention.
I INTRODUCE TO YOU JEHOVAH QANNA.
THE IGNORED ATTRIBUTE OF GOD 🔥
Exodus 34:14
For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
The Church often celebrates the God who provides and heals, but not the God who demands fidelity.
We preach His blessings louder than His boundaries.
Yet it was this same God who told Israel,
“I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiff-necked people, lest I consume thee in the way.” (Exodus 33:3)
The Presence that delivers can also destroy.
The same cloud that shielded Israel from Egypt consumed Nadab and Abihu when they disregarded divine order.
The Name Qanna is not insecurity. It is holy love guarding its territory.
It is the jealousy of a faithful husband whose wife flirts with strangers.
His passion protects her dignity and their covenant bond.
WHEN THE PRESENCE TURNS DANGEROUS ⚡
Many believers cry for God’s Presence without first examining their loyalty.
Yet Exodus 33 reveals a fearful truth.
God told Moses that He would still fulfill His promise through an angel, but His Presence would not go with them, “lest I consume thee.”
The Lord was saying, “My love is too pure to travel with hypocrisy. My holiness will burn through anything untrue.”
So we see that it is not always Satan wounding us.
Sometimes it is the stirred jealousy of God confronting our divided affections.
A believer may be praying for comfort while the very discomfort is God’s fire reclaiming His rightful place.
THE HIDDEN CONSEQUENCE OF NEGLECT ⚖️
Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…
2 Chronicles 15:2
The LORD is with you, while ye be with him… but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
God’s jealousy does not begin as punishment. It begins as absence. He simply steps aside. And when Qanna withdraws, even the devil looks unnecessary. Chaos begins naturally.
This is why so many bind demons but neglect obedience.
They battle symptoms while ignoring the cause.
The stirred jealousy of God cannot be cast out.
It must be satisfied by repentance and renewed devotion.
THE JEALOUS FIRE IS ALSO THE PUREST LOVE 🔥💧
Song of Solomon 8:6
Love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave; the coals thereof are coals of fire, a most vehement flame.
The flame of jealousy is the hottest part of divine love. It burns not to destroy, but to refine. When a believer cuts off distractions and returns wholly to God, the same fire that once hurt begins to heal.
Jehovah Qanna does not hate His people. He hates sharing them. When we respond to His jealousy, His other names (Jireh, Rapha, Nissi) flow effortlessly. The moment He is central again, provision, healing, and victory resume their natural rhythm.
THE PARABLE OF THE INVITATION 🎟️
Matthew 22:1–14
The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king who prepared a wedding for his son. Yet those originally invited made light of it. They were busy — one with his farm, another with his business. Their priorities were loud, and their absence spoke volumes.
So the king opened the door to strangers. They were not part of the original list.
They were brought in as an afterthought, people minding their own affairs until the call found them. Still, one among them ended up bound hand and foot and cast into outer darkness.
Why? He treated the invitation as casual.
He entered the presence without regard for the protocol of the King.
His fault was not rebellion but disregard. He was in the right place but with the wrong heart.
This story exposes a truth our generation forgets. Being invited is not the same as being approved. The Presence is a privilege, not a playground. The call is free, but the response must be reverent.
THE CALL BACK TO FIDELITY 🕊️
In this age of convenience, the Word of God is more accessible than ever — audio, mobile apps, websites, translations galore. Yet, paradoxically, most Christians do not read it as if their lives depended on it.
We snack on verses but rarely sit for a full meal.
Many even quote Isaiah 28:13 “precept upon precept, line upon line” as if it endorses piecemeal study. But the verse itself ends in warning:
But the word of the LORD was to them,
Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little,
That they might go and fall backward, and be broken and snared and caught.
Fragmented exposure to the Word leads to fragmented understanding, and fragmented understanding leads to downfall. A love letter is not read in fragments.
You read it until your heart is full or until you tire, and then continue again when you wake. When the believer treats Scripture as living conversation rather than reference material, The Word becomes a Companion, not a quotation. You begin to sense Him even in your business meetings, your travels, your rest. He shapes your tone, your responses, your decisions — because you have built rapport with Him.
Our generation must restore this fidelity. The believer’s manifesto must be simple and uncompromising: The Word must always be in focus; whether I am reading, listening, or living.
THE WORD IS A PERSON ⚔️📖
Revelation 19:11–13
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True… and His name is called The Word of God.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Scriptures do their own arithmetic.
The Word is not mere text — it is God.
And that Word is also a Person, revealed riding in glory.
The armies of heaven follow Him, because wherever the Word leads, life and victory follow.
Neglect of Scripture, therefore, is not simply poor devotion. It is neglect of fellowship with God Himself. Every time we postpone reading or meditating on the Word, we turn away from a living Person who came to commune with us.
And yet this same God has declared in Psalm 138:2,
For You have magnified Your Word above all Your Name.
Above Jireh, above Nissi, even above Qanna He has exalted His Word. Which means we are not spiritually safe when we elevate the words of men, or the systems of human intellect, above the sacred faculty of divine study.
Human learning is noble; it shapes the mind. But communion with The Word shapes the soul. And only a shaped soul can host the fire of Jehovah Qanna without being consumed.
THE BURNING BUSH MYSTERY 🔥🌿
Exodus 3:2
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
This is what it looks like when the jealousy of God finds a vessel that yields.
The fire burns, yet does not destroy. The bush was ordinary, but because it was willing to host divine purpose, it became extraordinary.
So it is with every believer who attends to the needs of Jehovah Qanna. When we give Him our full attention, His flame burns within us as passion without burnout, conviction without collapse.
Psalm 104:4 declares, He makes His ministers a flame of fire.
The difference between a burning bush and burnt remains is submission. Those who resist the jealous fire are consumed by it. Those who embrace it become carriers of it.
And yet, in our day, many treat their pets and cars with more consistency and care than they give to the Word of God. We polish what will rust, feed what will die, and ignore what alone gives eternal life.
The jealousy of God is still searching for men and women who will stop treating His Word like a spare tire and start treating it as breath and when that happens, the flame will return to the bush burning brightly, but never consuming.
HOW WE RUB QANNA THE WRONG WAY 💔🔥
If you have ever wondered how you grieve Jehovah Qanna, start with your treatment of His Word. Neglect of Scripture is not a small oversight. It is a revelation of how lightly we esteem His place in our lives.
Many only remember God when trouble strikes, as if He were an emergency line instead of a lifelong covenant. But Qanna is not moved by distress calls. He is drawn by devotion.
He wants relationship, not only rescue operations. He desires steady conversation, not seasonal desperation.
When you return to His Word with affection instead of obligation, His jealousy turns from burning against you to burning within you. The same flame that once exposed now empowers.
THE ENCOUNTER 🔥👑
If you truly give yourself to The Word, you will not merely memorize it.
You will meet Him. And once you encounter The Word, nothing in you stays casual again.
Shalom.
